Context -Science and Technology
This term our context is 'Helping Hands' and we are learning all about production lines, human or machines!
We had an enjoyable visit to our local Domino's Pizza where we went through the whole process of ordering, paying, choosing and eating our pizza! YUM

We also visited the Tip Top Ice Cream factory in Mount Wellington where we toured the factory and saw production lines of ice cream being made by machines and we also saw people packaging the made products.
We even got to sample a variety of Tip Top ice cream!
Maths - Statistics
This terms focus for maths is Statistics. We are learning to record and collate data in a variety of ways.
Reading
Guided reading is taught every day from Monday to Thursday. Guided reading is a specialist teaching approach where students are assessed on their reading ability and placed in a group with other children who have the same reading goals and work with the teacher to achieve the goals.
The readers from each lesson are sent home for you to read with your child. This is a wonderful way to spend time with your child, talking about the book and what they have learnt.
A poem will come home every Friday to be shared with the family.
In the New Entrant classes, a phonics folder is sent home on Friday. Please spend time practising the correct letter formation and its corresponding sound.
Writing
We are learning to write recounts of events. You can help at home by talking about events with your child especially events that your family have done during the weekends. It would be helpful to include WHO, WHAT, WHERE, and WHEN in your conversations.
Physical Education - PMP
A big thank you to those parents who help out with supervising the PMP programme on Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's in the school hall. Your help is really appreciated. Also, thank you to the parents who attended the parent information afternoon tea last week and are our new volunteers.
School Cross Country
Each class is busy training for the school Cross Country which will be held on Wednesday 21st August on the school feild.
Visual Art
We are using different kinds of materials this term to make collages. Do you have any unwanted items at home which we could use at school? Old materials, wool, string, pieces of coloured papers, hessian, felt... Please bring these to your child's classroom teacher.
